West Siberian Plain

   

The West Siberian Plain (Russian: За́падно-Сиби́рская равни́на) is a large plain that occupies the western portion of Siberia, between the Ural Mountains in the west and the Yenisei River in the east.

Its area is about 3 million km²; it extends from north to south for 2,500 km, and from west to east for 1,900 km.

Principal rivers are Ob, Irtysh and Yenisei. There are also many lakes and swamps.

Vegetation: in the north there is tundra, in the middle taiga, and in the south steppes.

There are large resources of petroleum and natural gas.
