Virunga Mountains
The Virunga Mountains is a mountain range in East Africa, along the northern border of Rwanda with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda. They are form part of the eastern side of the Great Rift Valley, north of Lake Kivu.
The Virunga are volcanic. The tallest mountain, Mount Karisimbi, is dormant. Mount Nyiragongo erupted most recently in 2001. Mount Nyamuragira erupted most recently in 2002.
