Louis Renault (industrialist)

   

Louis Renault (1877 - 1944) was a French industrialist.

He was born in Paris.

He built a first car in 1898 then, with his brothers Marcel (1872-1903) and Fernand (1865-1909) became a foremost automobile pioneer and founded the Renault company. He is one of the founding fathers of Grand Prix motor racing.

In 1944, he was arrested for industrial collaboration with Nazi Germany and died in Fresnes Prison.
