Louis Le Vau

   

Louis Le Vau (1612–1670) was a French architect who worked for Louis XIV of France. His most notable works include the Palace of Versailles and his collaboration with Claude Perrault on the Louvre. He was responsible, with André Le Nôtre and Charles Le Brun, for the redesign of the château of Vaux-le-Vicomte. His other works included the Château de Vincennes, the Institut de France (College of Four-Nations), the church of St. Sulpice. He was born and died in Paris.
