Loch Long
Loch Long is a body of water in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The sea loch extends from the Firth of Clyde at its southwestern end to the village of Kilillan. It measures approximately 20 miles in length, with a width of between one and two miles. Loch Duich extends from the northern edge of Loch Long.
The loch was used as a testing ground for torpedoes during World War II and contains numerous wrecks. It is now a popular area for sport diving.
Eilean Donan castle stands at the point where Loch Long and Loch Duich meet.
A major oil pipeline serving the Grangemouth Refinery lands on the eastern shore of the loch, and it is home to a Royal Naval armament depot at Coulport.
