Lt. Gen. Lloyd Fredendall was known as an ineffective tactical commander in battle. Fredendall was disliked by almost everyone, both above and below him. His most infamous loss occurred in February, 1943 against Rommel in the Battle of Tunisia. Upset with Fredendall's lack of aggressive spirit (and his penchant for selecting poor subordinates), Gen. Eisenhower sacked him in March and replaced him with the George Patton.
