Kainuu

Kainuu is a region (maakunta / landskap) of Finland. It is located in the Oulu province and it borders the regions of Northern Ostrobothnia, North Karelia and Northern Savonia. In the east it also borders to Russia.

The administrative capital is Kajaani. In Kainuu there are 88 000 inhabitants and the people number decreases all the time as the consequence of the removal. The nature of Kainuu is the dangers (wooden fjelds), lakes and wide uninhabited forest areas at its most typical. 95 Per cent of the land area of Kainuu is a forest. The climate is continental.

Per Brahe populated in the 1500's by giving the ten year exemption from taxation of Kainuu to the converters. Kainuu one had to populate on the Finns because the threat to the area was from the east and north for the changing of the Russians. The ones which had moved to Kainuu were mainly from Savo. The present record quick removal finds an explanation in the fact that the agriculture does not support any more, such as before and other sources of livelihood do not really exist. It was possible hundred to consider from area the removal years ago so "as a correction business" to the done populating.
