Flag of Ontario

The current Flag of Ontario was proclaimed the official flag of the Canadian province of Ontario by the Flag Act on May 21, 1965. The flag is a defaced Red Ensign, with the Union Flag in the upper left hand corner and the Ontario shield of arms in the fly. Prior to 1965 Canada as a whole had used both the Canadian Red Ensign and the Union Flag, but in that year the Maple Leaf Flag was introduced as the flag of Canada.
