Auditory system

The auditory system is the sensory system for the sense of hearing. The cochlea inside the ear transduces sound waves into action potentials. This information travels up the auditory nerve through parts of the thalamus and brainstem to auditory areas of the brain. In the human brain, the primary auditory cortex is located in the temporal lobe.
