Alda Lara

   

Alda Ferreira Pires Barreto de Lara Albuquerque (born 9 June 1930, Benguela, Angola; died 30 January 1962, Cambambe, Angola), known as Alda Lara, was an Angolan doctor and poet.

In her short life, Lara produced a large poetic output in the Portuguese language. Her husband, the writer Orlando Albuquerque, set about publishing her collected works after her death.

The Alda Lara Prize (in Portuguese, Prémio Alda Lara) was established in her honour.
